Curve: New York

 

·         Show dates: February 21 to 23 2010.

·         Venue: The Jacob Javits Center, New York

·         Visitors: Opening just 72 hours after the Las Vegas edition, CurveNY enjoyed an increased attendance of 17% more buyers over last season. A total of 2226 retailers arrived over the three days.

·         Exhibitors: 225 brands exhibited, with 35 new brands joining the show this season.

·         Mood: A warm, welcoming mood infused the show, the increased traffic signalling an improvement in the dispirited economy.

·         Trend direction: Many brands increased the level of sexiness within collections, showing a passion for red, black lace or bondage details. Ranges had expanded to include larger sizes all round, reacting to requests passed on by buyers.

·         Busiest hall: There was a noticeable buzz around the more youthful or diffusion lines created for the younger market, such as Hanky Panky, B-Tempt’d from Wacoal, Passionata from Chantelle and Freya. Also brands offering shapewear were enjoying added interest, especially from online store buyers looking to expand into these areas.

·         Categories: The key divisions within the hall included the creative sector of smaller boutique brands, established brands, shapewear and loungewear with pockets of hosiery and maternity. Within larger brands could be found ranges of menswear and swim.

·         Next show dates:The Spring/Summer 2011 collections will be shown between Aug. 1-3 at the Jacob Javits Centre, New York.
